5-axis CNC machining center SIGMA Vortex series

The SIGMA Vortex series comprises four 5-axis vertical CNC machining center models —UCT-250, UCT-600, UCH-660, and UGT-800— designed for high-speed, high-precision machining and fine finishing of complex-geometry workpieces. The range extends from compact high-productivity configurations to large-part machining for automotive, aerospace, mold manufacturing, and medical device applications.

The series encompasses three structural configurations: traveling column with A/C rotary table (UCT-250, UCT-600, and UGT-800), B-axis swinging head with C-axis rotary table (UCH-660), and gantry-type structure (UGT-800). In all configurations, linear and rotary axes are arranged with a three-axis overlap layout to minimize spatial positioning errors during simultaneous 5-axis machining and enhance contouring accuracy.

Linear travels span 350 to 1,250 mm on X, 300 to 935 mm on Y, and 250 to 950 mm on Z. Rotary table diameter ranges from Ø250 to Ø800 mm, with maximum allowable loads of up to 1,500 kg (C-axis). The tilt axis A(B) operates over a range of −90° to ±120° depending on model; the C-axis completes a full 360° rotation. Spindle speed ranges from 12,000 to 15,000 rpm via direct-drive (DDS) or built-in spindle, with power ratings from 5.5/7.5 kW on the compact model to 29.5/67 kW on high-capacity models. Roller-type linear guides on all three axes ensure optimal rigidity at rapid traverse speeds of up to 50 m/min.

The ATC holds 24 to 50 tools depending on model, with No. 30 to No. 40 taper tool holders (7/24). Control compatibility covers HEIDENHAIN, FANUC, and SIEMENS. Machine structure is validated through finite element method (FEM) analysis, and the assembly process includes measurement and compensation of the 43 geometric errors specific to 5-axis machines using 6D spatial measurement equipment.

The Vortex series is suited to machining departments processing complex parts in aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and other aerospace-grade materials, with integration capability into automated production cells with robotic loading systems.
